About the project

ConnectHeat is the first EU initiative aiming to develop heating and cooling (H&C) communities to enhance renewable energy adoption and improve energy efficiency of H&C across Europe. It will implement pilot cases in seven diverse regions, putting citizens and public authorities at the heart of the energy transition. The project will offer an exciting set of activities including various tools, open workshops, webinars and dissemination events around H&C communities.

ConnectHeat kicked off to promote energy community approach in H&C

Launched in October 2022 to accelerate the decarbonisation of H&C through energy communities, ConnectHeat brings together diverse stakeholders in an EU-wide effort. The kick-off meeting in Milan, Italy, provided a great opportunity to discuss the key objectives, activities and challenges, setting the ground for the exciting three years of the project.

Wide range of target areas

ConnectHeat project aims to develop H&C communities in seven distinct European regions addressing different socio-economic, environmental and political contexts to showcase the practical implementation and impact of community-led initiatives in transitioning towards sustainable H&C systems.

Second project meeting in Bulgaria

The ConnectHeat consortium gathered in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, in April 2023 to discuss the progress made in the first 6 months of the project as well as the objectives for the upcoming period. Many exciting activities are planned to build capacity and accelerate the development of community energy projects in H&C across Europe.

ConnectHeat at the Euroheat & Power Congress

Since its launch, the ConnectHeat project has been present at various events, furthering its mission of making EU's heating and cooling more sustainable and inclusive. Notably, ConnectHeat recently made its presence felt at the Euroheat & Power Congress held in May 2023 Torino.

Launch of ConnectHeat Stakeholder Advisory Groups

ConnectHeat set up one local Stakeholder Advisory Group (SAG) in each target area to support H&C community development and one  International Stakeholder Advisory Group (ISAG) composed of 10 H&C experts to support the implementation and development of the project.
