On 27 May 2025, the ConnectHeat project hosted a new capacity-building webinar titled “The Warmth of Cooperation: Heating and Cooling Communities for Southern Europe”. The session explored how local initiatives in Southern Europe are reshaping thermal energy systems through community-led approaches.
Moderated by Martin Stroleny from Euroheat & Power, the webinar featured insights from leading regional actors in Italy and Spain, who showcased how heating and cooling communities can support the green transition at the local level. The event highlighted real-life experiences from the Friuli Venezia Giulia region and the Canary Islands, demonstrating how collaboration, renewable integration, and innovative planning tools are driving concrete change.
The audience also discovered practical instruments for local heating and cooling planning, as well as tools developed within the ConnectHeat project to help stakeholders kickstart their own community-based initiatives. Speakers stressed the need for inclusive participation, tailored governance, and strategic cooperation to accelerate sustainable energy transitions in warmer regions of Europe.
